We at Lally Tours are incredibly delighted that Galway made it to number one spot in the Hemisphere’s Magazine article “Reasons to Travel in 2020“. We’re specifically proud that Lally Tours got a lovely mention in the article.
“Visitors would also be wise to explore the rugged beauty of Connemara on a day trip with the charismatic Mairtin Óg Lally of Lally Tours”

What is Hemispheres?
Hemispheres is the inflight magazine of United Airlines and reaches more than 11 million readers every month. The online publication is free to access, and archives all content from previous editions.
The magazine is aimed at affluent business and leisure travelers. United Airline’s international route system means that the magazine is read around the world. It is a truly international magazine, not just a U.S. magazine that’s read by nearly all nationalities. They publish insider articles by writers with expert credentials and global perspectives.
How did Lally Tours get a mention ?
This story goes back to the Galway International Art’s Festival in July 2019. The team from Hemisphere’s Magazine were here in Galway and doing some research. They were searching out the best places to travel in 2020 and low-and-behold, they get referred to our travel office in Galway.
We chatted with them and discussed things to do and places to visit and to travel to in Galway. After figuring out that they would be traveling to the Cliffs of Moher (en route to Adare Manor) after they depart Galway, we quickly concluded that we would spend a day exploring the best of Connemara.
As we do with all of our private tour guests, we discussed the members of the group, their interests and really got a solid feel for how we would make the most out of one day in Connemara.
Of course, we also considered the weather. We scanned our favorite weather apps, and took an average to get a solid guage of what kind of weather to expect on the day.
The Route
The guests were picked up at the set time (of their choosing, of course…) right from the front door of their hotel in Galway City.
We went out the Moycullen Road, along Lough Corrib and straight out into the heart of Connemara. We took the “traditional figure 8” loops through Connemara, taking in Maam Valley, Inagh Valley, Maam Cross, Leenane Village, Killary Fjord and Kylemore Abbey to name but a few stops. We then continued along the Wild Atlantic Way / South Connemara route by Rossaveal Harbor, An Spidéal and Salthill back into Galway City. We just made it back in time for the traditional Irish music session to kick off in Taaffes Bar.
Their driver/guide on the day was Mairtín Óg Lally, son of Martin & Bríd Lally, founders of Lally Tours.
The Vehicle
The vehicle of choice was our beloved 9 seater Mercedes Sprinter. Loads of comfort and space. Perfectly suited to the road of the West of Ireland.
