Should I tip?

Gratuities are not required. However we think our drivers and guides have a tough job to do, so if you enjoyed your trip, feel free to tip your driver appropriately – it is truly appreciated.

Do you have an office in Galway city?

Our public information office is the Explore Galway Kiosk located in Eyre Square.

Can I take my dog with me?

We absolutely welcome service dogs but unfortunately, we cannot accept any other animals on board.

This is not a decision which has been made lightly, and is mostly because of health and safety reasons. We also take other passengers comfort into consideration. We are pet owners ourselves, but unfortunately we must prioritise the advice given to us by our Health and Safety consultants.

Do I need to print my ticket? / Can I display my ticket on my mobile phone?

A printed ticket is not necessary for our tours. We encourage people to keep their ticket on their phone to present at check-in as this is more environmentally friendly.

What is the minimum age to take a tour?

Guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 16.

But all ages are welcome on our tours when accompanied by an adult.

This is in line with most tour company policies, and also mirrored across the airline industry.

Do you do a student discount?

Yes we do, you will find student rates are available for our both our Day Tours and for City Sightseeing Galway, just be sure to bring your valid Student ID.

If you are a student outside of Ireland, you will need to verify enrollment in your home university so please bring your valid Student ID.

Is there a discount available?

The best rates are available by booking direct on LallyTours.com. Also, it’s best to purchase multiple tours at the same time to avail of bundled discounts.

We offer an advance booking discount of 15% when you book your tour 14 days in advance. This discount if applicable is automatically added during your booking process.

Student rates are also available on our tours, just make sure you bring your valid Student ID.

City Sightseeing

How often are the City Sightseeing tours?

Every 90 minutes regularly and every 45 minutes at the height of the season departing from the top of Eyre Square, .

The first tour begins at 09:30 and the final tour at 3:30pm.

How does the city tour work?

Our hop-on hop-off city tour departs from the top of Eyre Square (just beneath the flags of the 14 tribes) and runs every 90 mins regularly and in the height of the season every 45 minutes.

The tours full loop duration is 60 minutes, and has 13 stops along the way.

You are free to hop-off wherever strikes your interest and then hop back on when you’re done as your ticket is valid for either 24hours or 48hours!

Are the City Sightseeing tours wheelchair accessible?

Yes, we are massive believers in inclusion and equality. Our double decker buses have capacity for one wheelchair each, and our drivers are trained in usage of the wheelchair ramps.

Can I display my ticket on my mobile phone?

Yes you can display your ticket on your phone, we actively encourage a paperless environment where possible.

Can I bring my luggage on the City Sightseeing bus?

**City Sightseeing Galway**

Yes, you can bring luggage on board, but you must take luggage with you when you hop-off. Unfortunately we cannot hold your belongings while you are not on board.

Can I purchase my tickets from the driver?

Not at the moment, but our Travel Coordinators will be at the bus at Eyre Square before departures where they accept cash and card payments.

Alternatively, you can call us on +353(0)91 562905 and book tickets before taking the bus.

Where can I purchase tickets for City Sightseeing Galway?

Tours from Galway

General

Are there toilets on board the buses?

We do not have toilets on board our tour buses. Our Day Tours explore areas of rural Ireland which are often characterised by narrow winding roads. It is not safe to be using toilets on buses while traveling this kind of terain.

Rest assured – There are toilet facilities available at 90% of the stops which we make!

Can I bring my luggage on board?

**Day Tours from Galway**

Yes, no problem. It’s the same coach and driver all day. This is a great idea if you are coming straight from a connection, if you’re checking out of your accommodation or if you are catching an ongoing connection straight after the tour.

Do I need to bring a packed Lunch?

You are welcome to bring a packed lunch if you wish, but you do not need to. There are plenty of café’s and restaurant options on each of our Day Trips, offering a range of cuisines. But it is no harm to carry a snack!

Connemara - Kylemore Abbey

How long do we spend at Kylemore Abbey?

You will have approximately 2 hours to spend at Kylemore Abbey.

Your ticket for the Galway to Connemara and Kylemore Abbey Full Day Tour includes the entrance fee to Kylemore Abbey and the Victorian Walled Gardens.

How much is it to enter Kylemore Abbey?

If you purchase a ticket for our Galway to Connemara and Kylemore Abbey Full Day Tour your entrance fee to Kylemore Abbey and the Victorian Walled Gardens is included in the price.

If you had originally purchased a ticket on our Galway to Connemara National Park and Diamond Hill Full Day Tour and you change your mind on the day (perhaps after seeing a few grey clouds overhead) you can pay your driver guide €10 in cash on arrival to Kylemore Abbey.

Connemara - National Park

What happens if I'm not back in time?

Please make sure to keep an eye on the time – If you are not back within 2 hours, the driver will have to continue the tour without you, and you will have to arrange alternative transport back to Galway. There is a local / public service bus that passes near the national park.

Is 2 hours enough for the National Park?

There are 3 x routes: 1 x Short, 1 x Medium, 1 x Long (to the peak of Diamond Hill). It is possible to reach the peak and back down in 2 hours if you have a good pace and only make brief stops. Please be realistic with your ability and speed, don’t push yourself too hard and make sure to allow time to have a bite to eat.

Please make sure to keep an eye on the time – If you are not back within 2 hours, the driver will have to continue the tour without you, and you will have to arrange alternative transport back to Galway. There is a local / public service bus that passes near the national park.

Is it a guided hike?

No, the hikes are unguided. But there are marked paths for your convenience and a visitors centre at the National Park.

How much time do we get to hike?

You will have 2 hours of free time to hike Diamond Hill at Connemara National Park.

Cliffs of Moher - Full day tour

How long do we spend in Doolin?

You will have approximately 45 minutes in Doolin. This is our designated lunch stop, but you may also use this time to explore.

Will Dungaire Castle be open?

Unfortunately the castle only operates Castle Tours from April to October so it is closed to visitors at present.

But it is considered a great photo and rest stop all year round!

What should I bring with me?

A camera – You’ll see many beautiful landscapes and iconic Irish sights, so many guests bring their own camera

Comfortable Shoes – On each of our tours, we make stops that can require lengthy walks. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes so you don’t miss out on Ireland’s hidden gems!

Weatherproofing – If the forecast is showing anything other than 100% sunshine, you should probably bring a rain jacket. All of our coaches have air-conditioning, but in the winter months it is advised to bring a scarf and/or gloves to keep you warm and snug when you’re outside in the elements.

How much time do we get to hike?

You will have 2 hours of free time to hike Diamond Hill at Connemara National Park.

How long do we spend at the Cliffs of Moher?

You have 2 hours to independently explore the Cliffs of Moher.

Your ticket includes the entrance fee to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience Center where you will find a café, restaurant, toilet facilities and an interactive exhibition.

Cliffs of Moher - Half day express

Is there a guide on the Cliffs Express?

The Cliffs Express is a non-stop and non-guided independent trip direct to the Cliffs of Moher.

While you will be passing through the heart of the Burren on the way between Galway City and the Cliffs of Moher, there is no running commentary as part of the trip. Guests are welcome to lie back and take in the views with no interruptions.

How much time do we spend on the bus and boat?

For our Galway to Cliffs Cruise, Aran Islands and Connemara tour or as we call it ‘Galway Bay in a Day Tour’, you can expect total travel times as follows:

Bus Time Total = 2hrs 15mins

Boat Time Total = 2hrs

The above is broken down with various stops so that you are not on a bus any more than 45 mins at once. The longest journey on a boat is approx 1 hour for the time that you are sailing below the Cliffs of Moher during the Cliffs Cruise.

Round Ireland Tours

Do Lally Tours operate tours around Ireland, outside of the West of Ireland?

Yes it is possible to create a private tour around Ireland with us through a private enquiry.

But our public tours are based in Galway and the central west coast of Ireland.

Tours from Dublin

Where is the Dublin Departure Point?

If you are booked on a Day Tour from Dublin, you will be taking a Citylink Coach transfer from Dublin City to Galway.

There are reclining seats, toilets, wifi and charging sockets on every Citylink Coach making it a smooth, relaxing and comfortable journey.

How do the tours from Dublin work?

Lally Tours are based in Galway City. We are partnered with Citylink, who operate 30+ services between Galway and Dublin City (and Airport) every day, all year round. If you book a Day Tour with us from Dublin, you will be taking a Citylink Bus from Dublin to Galway and then joining our tour in Galway.

If you book a trip which includes a return to Dublin, then you will reboard the Citylink Coach for the return journey back to Dublin from Galway City.

Can I choose a different time to depart to/from Dublin?

Yes – No problem. When booking a Day Tour from Dublin with Lally Tours you will be taking a Citylink Coach between Dublin and Galway. Citylink operate 30+ services a day between Galway and Dublin and you are welcome on any one of them.
