Ryder Cup 2027 Ireland: How to Plan a Golf Trip Around It

If you’ve started searching for the 2027 Ryder Cup, you’ve probably already found the basics: Adare Manor, September, Ireland’s second time hosting. What’s harder to find is the next step. Once you know where and when, how do you actually turn that into a trip, especially if a match ticket isn’t part of the plan?

That’s what this guide is for. We’ll cover the event itself first: the venue, the dates, what a ticket actually gets you in 2027. Then we’ll get into the part most sites skip entirely: where to base yourself, what golf in Ireland looks like outside the ropes of a major championship, and how a week built around four of the northwest’s best links courses can turn 2027 into the year you finally make the trip.

At a Glance

  • The 2027 Ryder Cup runs from 13 to 19 September 2027 at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland’s second time hosting the event after the K Club in 2006.
  • You don’t need a match ticket to plan a worthwhile golf trip around it. The general ballot has already closed, but Irish links golf has never required one.
  • Adare Manor and the surrounding Limerick area will be busy and in high demand that week. Ireland’s northwest coast offers championship links golf without the crowds.
  • Our own Northwest Links Golf Series runs small-group departures (capped at 16 golfers) across four championship courses.

Where Is the 2027 Ryder Cup, and When Does It Take Place?

The 2027 Ryder Cup takes place from 13 to 19 September 2027 at Adare Manor in County Limerick. It’s Ireland’s second time hosting the event, and it’s been more than two decades since the first.

The Venue: Adare Manor, County Limerick

Adare Manor sits on the River Maigue in County Limerick, a few kilometres from the village of Adare itself. The course has hosted top-level professional golf before, including the 2022 JP McManus Pro-Am, but 2027 will be its first Ryder Cup.

Ireland’s only previous Ryder Cup was played at the K Club in Straffan, County Kildare, in September 2006, when Europe won on home soil. Two different venues, two different counties, 21 years apart.

The Dates: 13–19 September 2027

Ryder Cup week runs longer than the three days of actual competition. Teams arrive, practice rounds take place, and the tournament builds toward an opening ceremony before a ball is struck to mark the start.

Why Ireland’s Ryder Cup Return Is a Big Deal for Golfers

A Second Irish Ryder Cup, a Century After the First

The Ryder Cup was first played in 1927, at Worcester Country Club in Massachusetts. That means 2027 lands almost exactly a hundred years after the competition began, a tidy bit of timing that has nothing to do with Ireland specifically, but makes the return of the tournament to Irish soil feel like more than a routine rotation on the calendar.

Ireland has waited over two decades for a second turn. The K Club in 2006 was, by most accounts, one of the better-received Ryder Cups in recent memory: home support, a course that rewarded accuracy over raw distance, and a result that went Europe’s way. Adare Manor has a lot to live up to!

What It Means for Golf Tourism in Ireland

A Ryder Cup on Irish soil puts Irish golf in front of an audience that doesn’t always think of Ireland first when planning a golf trip. Scotland has held the “home of golf” billing for a very long time, and it gets first mention in most golf trip conversations as a result. A tournament this size, broadcast from a championship course in County Limerick, nudges some of that conversation west.

We’re biased, naturally. Ireland has the links, the Atlantic, and a habit of making a guest feel like a regular by the second round. The weather is the only thing we won’t promise.

We’d put it plainly: 2027 is a good excuse, not a requirement. The golf on Ireland’s links courses has been worth the trip long before Adare Manor won the hosting rights, and it’ll still be worth it long after the trophy’s been handed out. If the Ryder Cup is what finally gets you looking seriously at an Ireland golf trip, we’re not going to argue with the timing.

Do You Need a Ryder Cup Ticket to Plan a Golf Trip Around It?

Short answer: no. A ticket gets you inside the ropes at Adare Manor, and that’s all it does. It has no bearing on whether you can plan a good golf trip to Ireland in September 2027, and for most people reading this, that’s the more realistic goal.

The Official Ballot and Hospitality Packages

The general public ballot for 2027 Ryder Cup tickets has now closed, and successful applicants hear from the organisers directly. If you missed it or weren’t drawn, the official site says tickets are still available through Ryder Cup Travel Services’ ticket-inclusive hotel packages, and extra hospitality experiences were on sale with limited availability when we last checked.

That route sits well outside anything we offer, and we’d rather point you to the official ticket information page than guess at prices or availability that aren’t ours to confirm.

Playing Golf in Ireland Doesn’t Require a Match Ticket

Nothing about playing championship links golf in Ireland depends on getting into Adare Manor that week. The courses on Ireland’s northwest coast – the ones that regularly turn up on the shortlists golf writers put together – are open to anyone who books a tee time. No ballot, no hospitality package, no queue at the gate. Just a tee time and a decent waterproof.

That’s the premise of this whole guide. A Ryder Cup ticket is one way to spend September 2027 in Ireland. Playing the courses yourself is another, and for a lot of golfers, it’s the one that actually gets remembered years later.

Where Should You Base Yourself During Ryder Cup Week?

Adare Manor and County Limerick Will Be in High Demand

If you’re travelling to Ireland specifically for Ryder Cup week, whether you have a ticket or not, expect County Limerick and the wider Shannon region to be busy. Rooms near any major tournament go early, and we’d expect Adare Manor to be no different. If staying near the course is part of your plan, book directly and book early.

Why Ireland’s Northwest Coast Is a Smart Alternative Base

If a crowded County Limerick during the single biggest week in Irish golf doesn’t sound like your idea of a holiday, the northwest coast is worth a serious look. Donegal, Sligo, and Mayo sit well clear of the Ryder Cup traffic, and they’re where our four courses are.

In practice, that means championship links golf at your own pace, with no crowd barriers or hospitality queues in sight. The loudest thing on a Donegal fairway that week is more likely to be the wind. It’s a different kind of week, not a lesser one.

September is only one option, too. If you’re still deciding which month suits your game, our guide to the best time to golf in Ireland [add in link to blog when live] breaks the season down month by month.

Planning Your Own Golf Trip to Ireland Around the Ryder Cup

This is where we can actually help. Our Northwest Links Golf Series is a six-day, small-group golf tour built around four championship links courses on Ireland’s northwest coast: Portsalon, County Sligo, Carne and Enniscrone. It runs independently of the Ryder Cup, so there’s no tournament to plan around.

The Series is new to our line-up. Showing guests around Ireland isn’t: we’re a family-owned and operated company, and we’ve been at it for close to four decades.

What’s Included in the Northwest Links Golf Series

Each departure is capped at 16 golfers and runs as a fully escorted trip, meaning we handle the itinerary, hotels, transport and tee times so you can concentrate on the golf.

  • 81 holes of links golf: a relaxed nine-hole welcome round on Day 1, followed by full championship rounds at Portsalon, County Sligo, Carne, and Enniscrone.
  • Five nights in four-star hotels: two nights in Donegal Town, two in Enniscrone, and a final night in Galway city centre.
  • Luxury coach transport with a professional driver, including pickup from Dublin city centre or Dublin Airport on Day 1.
  • Daily breakfast and a final group dinner in Galway to close out the tour.
  • Return transfers from Galway to Dublin city or Dublin Airport once the tour ends.

International flights, caddies, buggies, club hire, and most lunches and dinners outside the final night aren’t included. No set handicap is required to join.

You don’t need to arrive with a full fourball. Single golfers are welcome, subject to availability, and a single room supplement applies. The Series is built for groups of two to six, who travel as part of a wider departure of up to 16 golfers.

2027 Pricing

Departures run every two weeks from April to October 2027, and pricing on the tour page runs from €3,495 to €3,695 per person sharing, depending on the time of year. Exact dates and live availability are shown by the availability checker on the tour page.

If a particular week matters to you, get in touch and we’ll tell you where things stand.

Private Tours, If You’d Rather Build Your Own Itinerary

The scheduled Series is built for solo golfers, pairs, and small groups who’d rather join an organised departure than plan one from scratch. If your dates, group size, or course list don’t fit the fixed itinerary, a private golf tour built around your own dates is the other route: the same northwest links courses, arranged around whenever you can actually travel.

How Many Extra Days Should You Add to See More of Ireland?

Combine It With the West Coast

If you’ve already carved out a week for golf, a few extra days on one of our multi-day Ireland tours is the natural extension, particularly if you’re travelling with a partner or friends who aren’t playing every round with you.

Not ready to commit to a full tour? A single day will do it. Our Galway day tours cover the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara, Kylemore Abbey and the Aran Islands, and they leave from Galway, which is where the Series finishes.

Our guide to how to choose the right length Ireland tour and our breakdown of 5 vs 7 vs 10 day Ireland tours both cover how to think about adding time without overstretching a trip.

Combine It With a Longer Stay in Galway

The Series finishes in Galway on Day 6, which makes a few extra days easy to add rather than something you’d have to shoehorn in.

We’ve written before about whether Galway is worth the extra time, and for golfers finishing a week on the northwest coast, it definitely is. You’re already there, your clubs can stay packed, and the city gives non-golfing travel companions plenty to do while you decide how many extra days make sense.

Ready to Make 2027 Your Year for an Ireland Golf Trip?

That’s the lot: where the Ryder Cup is, what a ticket does and doesn’t get you, and why the northwest coast makes a better base for a golf week than a crowded Limerick. You don’t need to be inside the ropes at Adare Manor to make 2027 the year you finally play championship links golf in Ireland.

If that’s the trip you’re after, check what’s available for 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the Ryder Cup be held after 2027?

The 2029 Ryder Cup moves to Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. In 2031, it travels to Camiral in Costa Brava, Catalonia, marking the tournament’s first return to Spain since 1997. Ireland’s 2027 staging is a one-off within that rotation, not the start of a run.

Can non-golfers come along on a Lally Tours golf trip?

The Northwest Links Golf Series itself is built around golfers, so it isn’t the right fit for a mixed group where some travellers won’t be playing. If you’re travelling with a non-golfing partner or friend, a private tour can be arranged to suit a mixed group, or they might prefer one of our other multi-day sightseeing tours running on a similar timeline.

Do you need a low handicap to play on the Northwest Links Series?

No. There’s no set handicap requirement. The tour is built for golfers who want to play four championship links courses across a week, whatever their current level, rather than for a narrow band of low-handicap players.

What’s the weather like in Ireland during Ryder Cup week in September?

September in Ireland is mild on average, but changeable, so pack for both sunshine and rain rather than betting on either. If you want to track conditions closer to your travel dates, our guide to keeping an eye on Irish weather in September covers the tools we’d actually use ourselves.

Can I reach the Aran Islands from Galway without a car?

Yes. Lally’s own bus service to the ferry point at Rossaveal takes about 50 minutes, and the guided small-group tours handle the crossing and the island itself, so a car is never necessary for this leg.

How far ahead should you book a scheduled golf tour departure in Ireland?

As early as you can once your dates are set. Each Northwest Links Golf Series departure is capped at 16 golfers, and a fixed deposit secures your place once you book. With Ryder Cup year likely to push demand across Irish golf as a whole, the 2027 departures are the ones we’d book sooner rather than later.
