Irish Links Golf Tour Series

Duration: 6 days | Start/Finish: Dublin / Galway | Group Size: Maximum 16 golfers | Average Daily Drive Time: 2 Hours

Why Golfers Choose Lally Tours

Most golfers have always dreamed of playing links golf in Ireland. Very few want the job of organising it.

The Northwest Links Golf Series is our answer to that: a proper Ireland golf trip, built and ready to book into, without you having to piece one together yourself. It’s one of the more straightforward Ireland golf trips going, because we’ve already done the hard part – the route, the hotels, the tee times, all of it.

It’s built for the golfer who already has a regular playing partner, a foursome, or a small group they travel with, but doesn’t want to end up as the one who has to plan it. Think of it as the feel of a private golf trip, minus the planning – the sort of Ireland golf vacation you can book into rather than build from scratch.

Private Golf Tour vs. Our Scheduled Golf Series

Put a private golf tour together yourself, and someone in the group has to take it on. Here’s how our scheduled series compares:

Private golf tour

Northwest Links Golf Series

Someone in the group has to become the organiser

We manage the itinerary, hotels, tee times and transport – nobody in your group has to

The trip can get expensive for groups of only 2-6

Costs are shared across the group, with clear per-person pricing from day one

The final price can depend heavily on group size

A group of two pays the same fair rate as a group of six

A course or hotel change becomes the group’s problem

We manage any supplier change ourselves, and protect the standard of the trip

Self-driving across rural Ireland can be stressful

Sit back and let a coach and a professional driver take care of it

It takes time to research courses, routing and hotels

The route’s already built, checked, and ready to book

How the Northwest Links Series Compares

Most Ireland golf packages ask you to choose between a fully custom, quote-only itinerary that takes weeks to plan, or a big coach tour that rushes past the course list. Very few tours sit anywhere in between.

The Northwest Links Golf Series does: fixed departure dates, published pricing, and a small group cap, built specifically around Donegal, Sligo and Mayo links golf.

We’ve turned one of the more complicated golf trips to Ireland into a simple, scheduled booking.

Your Ireland Golf Trip, Run by Lally Tours

This is a Lally Tours experience.

We’re an established Irish tour operator based in the west of Ireland, and we’ve been showing guests around this country – golfers and non-golfers alike – for nearly four decades.

Every departure is fully escorted, from Dublin pickup to Galway finish, with a professional driver throughout, so the only decision left for you is which club to pull on the tee.

Your 6 Day Ireland Golf Trip Itinerary

Day 1 (Sunday)Dublin Pickup | Welcome 9-Hole Round | Donegal Town

Collection from Dublin City Centre or Dublin Airport, a relaxed 9-hole welcome round en route, then on to Donegal Town.Your group is collected from either Dublin City Centre or Dublin Airport before heading northwest. En route, you’ll stop for lunch and a relaxed nine holes at a quality course – a gentle way to loosen up after travelling and meet the rest of the group.

It’s an easy start to the week before the golf gets serious, and from there it’s on to Donegal Town for the first of two nights.

Overnight: Mill Park Hotel, Donegal Town

Day 2 (Monday) Portsalon Golf Club

The first full links round, set above the spectacular Ballymastocker Bay.

Portsalon is the perfect introduction to northwest links golf: elevated tees, natural dunes and Atlantic views that give you that first proper sense of playing golf on Ireland’s rugged western edge. It’s a scenic, welcoming start to the championship rounds ahead.

Overnight: Mill Park Hotel, Donegal Town

Day 3 (Tuesday) County Sligo Golf Club & Enniscrone

A traditional championship links at Rosses Point, then on to Enniscrone.

You’ll travel south to County Sligo Golf Club, one of Ireland’s great traditional championship links. It’s a different style of golf to Portsalon – strategic, historic and shaped by wind, angles and shot-making.

With Benbulben in the background and Sligo Bay all around it, it’s one of the classic golf settings in Ireland. After the round, continue on to Enniscrone.

Overnight: Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone

Day 4 (Wednesday) Carne Golf Links

West to one of the wildest, most dramatic links courses in Ireland.

Carne is remote, raw and unforgettable – huge dunes, Atlantic views and a natural routing that feels completely different from the rest of the week. For a lot of golfers, this ends up being the course they talk about most once they’re home.

Overnight: Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone

Day 5 (Thursday) Enniscrone Golf Club & Galway Finale

The final round on one of Ireland’s most spectacular dune links, then a group dinner in Galway.

Enniscrone is the ideal way to close out the golf: big dunes, dramatic holes, rolling fairways and a genuine sense of occasion. After the round, the group heads south to Galway for a final dinner together to close out the week.

Overnight: Galway City Centre Hotel

Day 6 (Friday) Departure from Galway

The organised tour finishes after breakfast in Galway.

From here, you can travel onward by train from Galway to Dublin City, by Citylink coach direct to Dublin Airport, or extend your stay independently in Galway or elsewhere in Ireland.

Ireland Golf Tour FAQs

Who is this tour designed for?

This tour is designed for golfers and small groups of friends who want a simple, professionally organised way to experience Ireland’s northwest links golf without arranging a private tour from scratch.

How many golfers are on each tour?

Each departure is limited to a maximum of 16 golfers, keeping the experience small, relaxed and sociable.

Can I book as a single golfer?

Yes. Single golfers are welcome to book, subject to availability. A single room supplement applies.

What golf is included?

The tour includes 81 holes of golf: a relaxed 9-hole welcome round on Day 1, followed by full rounds at Portsalon, County Sligo, Carne and Enniscrone.

Do I need a handicap?

There’s no set handicap requirement – it’s built for groups who enjoy links golf and want to play four championship courses across a week, whatever your current standard.

Where does the tour start?

Guests can join from either Dublin City Centre or Dublin Airport on Day 1. The planned Dublin Airport pickup is approximately 10:00am.

Where does the tour finish?

The tour finishes in Galway after breakfast on Day 6. Return travel to Dublin City or Dublin Airport is included and arranged for guests.

What is included in the price?

The price includes 5 nights’ accommodation, daily breakfast, all scheduled green fees, luxury coach transport, professional driver, Dublin pickup, return travel from Galway to Dublin/Dublin Airport, and the final group dinner in Galway.

What is not included?

International flights, lunches, most dinners, travel insurance, buggies/carts, caddies, trolleys, club hire, balls, personal expenses and room upgrades are not included.

Are the hotels guaranteed?

The planned accommodation is in Donegal Town, Enniscrone and Galway City Centre, using selected hotels or similar alternatives. Any hotel change will be chosen to protect the comfort and standard of the tour.

Can the golf courses change?

The planned itinerary includes Portsalon, County Sligo, Carne and Enniscrone. Occasionally, local competition days, club events, weather or operational requirements may require a course change. Any substitute course will be selected to protect the quality and overall experience of the tour.

What happens if weather affects golf?

If weather affects a round, the relevant golf club’s policy will apply. Where possible, alternative options will be offered.

If it’s a wash-out, credit/refund options will be offered in line with the respective Golf Clubs policies. But don’t worry – We’ll make sure it’s very fair.

Is the deposit refundable?

A fixed non-refundable booking deposit is required at the time of booking. The exact amount will be shown clearly before you confirm your place.

Can I change my departure date?

Date changes may be possible depending on notice given and availability on another departure. These requests are handled on a case-by-case basis, and may be subject to a date change admin fee.

Are caddies, trolleys or buggies included?

No. Green fees are included on all five rounds, but caddies, buggies, trolleys and club hire are not – these can usually be arranged locally at each course for an additional cost.

Can a non-golfing partner join the trip?

The itinerary and packages are designed with golfers needs in mind.

If your party is a mix of golfers and non-golfers, consider starting with our other multiday sightseeing and cultural tours. There are plenty more opportunities in those to adjust for golf.

Alternatively, we can arrange a custom private tour that can really nail in the best of all for your party.

If unsure, please get in touch with our team and we will help you decide which is best.

We're only 2 people - can we still book?

Yes. The Northwest Links Golf Series is built for small groups of 2-6 golfers specifically – you don’t need a full group to book in. You’ll travel as part of a wider departure of up to 16 golfers.

Where will we be staying?

Two nights at the Mill Park Hotel in Donegal Town, two nights at the Diamond Coast Hotel in Enniscrone, and a final night at a Galway City Centre hotel – all four-star, with daily breakfast included throughout.

Is there a single room supplement for solo golfers?

Get in touch with our team and we’ll talk you through single room availability and any supplement that applies.

What happens if a course or hotel changes before departure?

On occasion, club events, weather or hotel availability mean a course or hotel needs to change. When that happens, we manage it – any substitute is chosen to protect the standard, routing and overall experience of the tour, so you’re never left covering the gap yourself.

Are golf clubs provided, or do we need to bring our own?

Club hire isn’t included in the tour price, so most guests bring their own clubs. Hire sets can usually be arranged locally at each course if you’d rather not travel with yours.

What's the walking demand like on these courses?

All five rounds are played on natural links terrain, which means walking rather than riding, over ground that varies from gentle to more demanding depending on the course. If mobility is a concern for anyone in your group, speak to our team before booking.

Is an airport transfer included if we're not flying into Dublin?

Pickup is from Dublin City Centre or Dublin Airport.

If you are flying in to Shannon you’ll need to arrive a day early into Galway. If flying out of Shannon, we can get you there on Day 6 (the final day). Get in touch with the number of guests in your party so we can give you the best options and any additional costs that may be relevant.

What's not included in the price?

International flights, travel insurance, most lunches and dinners (aside from the final-night group dinner in Galway), caddies, buggies, trolleys, club hire, personal expenses, and transfers outside the scheduled pickup and departure options aren’t included.

Do you run Northern Ireland golf tours?

No – the Northwest Links Golf Series stays within the Republic of Ireland, covering Donegal, Sligo and Mayo before finishing in Galway. If you’re specifically comparing Northern Ireland golf tours as part of your search, get in touch with our team and we can help quote a private tour for your party.
