This 3km by 3km island is woven with intricate valleys, stone foot paths and small hills. Edged in a combination of sandy beaches and rocky coastline, Inis Oírr offers a different landscape around every corner and is perfect for a quiet, relaxing trip.

About Inis Oírr

Upon arriving to Inis Oírr, you’ll be greeted by golden sandy beaches, turquoise water and maybe even the island’s resident dolphin, Dusty! This tranquil collection of fishing villages is also home to a burial mound dating back to 1500 BC, a Medieval Church ruin buried half in the sand, and a 3-story tower built within a Stone Age fort. Among the shore, you’ll encounter a shipwreck from 1960, breathtaking views of Connemara and the Burren, and one of Ireland’s most beautiful beaches. Whichever path you take on the island, you’ll be sure to stumble upon history, traditions and a good cup of tea.

Getting to the Aran Islands from Galway is easy with Lally Tours. We provide a daily transport service from Galway to the port at Rossaveal (bus journey approx 1 hour). Ferry transport to Inis Oírr is approximately 45 minutes. Return ticket includes bus transport to/from Galway, and ferry transport to and from Inis Oírr.
